Great shot, and what a subject, WOW! Nice exposure control to capture the subject with the sun behind it. Only thing is that for me I never really cared for black and white underwater photos. I personally feel that this would have looked a lot better in color.

This really works as a B/W> I like the gradation in the background and the composition is pleasing. This is a seldom seen view of a whaleshark and I wish that the lineations under the mouth were a little more distinct. The upper left of the picture is already pure white (on my monitor) so to achieve this, you would have to select just the whaleshark in Photoshop (or similar program) and boost the lightness. Nice picture Craig - wish I could have been there

B&W is perfect for shots like this. Nice placement of the diver in the photo. It gives a good indication of the size of the beast.

I like this photo a lot. It makes me smile to see it. Was it taken in B&W, or was it taken in color and converted to B&W? Is this a scan of a negative or of a B&W print? For me, B&W is a good choice, bringing out the geometies and relative sizes.

Nicely composed with a well positioned diver for scale. A little too blown at the top left.
